Stephen Curry tastes 3-point perfection as Warriors pound 76ers

76ers Warriors

Stephen Curry added to his 3-point-shooting lore Thursday night, making all eight of his attempts for the first time in his career as the Golden State Warriors routed the Philadelphia 76ers 139-105 in San Francisco.

Curry finished with 30 points and 10 assists on a night when he became the first in NBA history to go at least 8-for-8 on 3-pointers and compile double-digit assists on the same night.

Having gone just 7 of 24 from long range over his previous two games, Curry matched his career-best of makes without a miss by going 6-for-6 through three quarters before adding two more early in the final period.

Curry had connected on all six of his 3-pointers in a game twice previously, including last April on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The NBA record of 9-for-9 was originally set by former Warriors player Latrell Sprewell, then of the New York Knicks, in 2003. It was eventually matched three times — by Ben Gordon both in 2006 and 2012, and by Jalen Brunson in 2023.

Jonathan Kuminga chipped with 20 points off the bench, while Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and Dennis Schroder had 15 apiece for the Warriors, who took advantage of a Philadelphia team playing the second night of a road back-to-back to get an early jump en route to a runaway win.

Moses Moody shot 4-for-5 on 3-pointers and Schroder made 3 of 4 from long range, helping the Warriors run up 22 treys in 39 attempts (56.4 percent).

Joel Embiid, who sat out Wednesday’s 113-107 loss at Sacramento, which ended a four-game winning streak, returned to pace the 76ers with 28 points and 14 rebounds.

After the Kings scored the final 15 points to beat them on Wednesday, the 76ers were scorched 13-4 at the start by the Warriors. Schroder nailed a pair of 3-pointers and Curry his first during the burst.

Golden State went on to lead by as many as 18 points before period’s end and coasted through the final three quarters, winning for just the fifth time in its last 18 games.

Moody added 12 points and Lindy Waters III had 10 for the Warriors. Green also contributed six rebounds, seven assists and three blocks.

Paul George backed Embiid with 19 points for the 76ers, who were playing their fifth straight road game. Tyrese Maxey had 14 points, six assists, four steals and two blocks, while Guerschon Yabusele had 13 points and Ricky Council IV added 12.
