Markus Burton racked up an Atlantic Coast Conference season high of 43 points and Matt Allocco scored 24 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer in the fourth overtime as Notre Dame edged Cal 112-110 in South Bend, Ind., on Saturday.

Allocco’s trey with 15 seconds left gave the Fighting Irish the lead for good at 109-108.

Cal’s Jeremiah Wilkinson tried to counter but stepped out of bounds on a shot attempt in the final seconds. Two free throws by Notre Dame’s Cole Certa helped clinch the three-hour-plus contest.

Burton shot 13 of 26 from the field before fouling out as the Fighting Irish (14-17, 8-12 ACC) ended the regular season on a two-game win streak.

J.R. Konieczny finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, and Tae Davis added 12 points for Notre Dame. Nikita Konstantynovskyi grabbed 17 rebounds.

Jeremiah Wilkinson poured in 38 points for Cal (13-18, 6-14), which lost its second in a row and has dropped nine of its last 11. Andrej Stojakovic added 21 points to go along with five rebounds and six blocks. Maddy Sissoko recorded 14 points and 13 rebounds and DJ Campbell chipped in 15 points.

Tied at 68-68 at the end of regulation, Burton’s 3-pointer with 36 seconds left in the first overtime knotted the game at 79-79. It was his first trey of the day after missing on his first three attempts.

Cal had chances to win in in the first overtime, but Campbell missed a 3-pointer and Stojakovic a jumper in the final seven seconds.

Notre Dame led 88-82 with 1:44 to go in the second OT after a trey by Burton, but Wilkinson also hit a 3-pointer and Sissoko scored off a layup and hit the ensuing free throw to tie the game at 88-88 with 29 seconds left.

Certa’s 3-pointer at the buzzer rimmed out.

Wilkinson buried a 3-pointer with 4:48 to play in the third overtime to give the Golden Bears the lead at 91-88. Burton answered a minute later with a trey to knot the game at 91-91.

Tied at 94-94 with 1:43 left, Sissoko split a pair of free throws to give Cal a 95-94 edge with 1:14 to go. Made one of two from the line to again tie the game with 1:02 left.

Allocco’s layup with 11 seconds to go gave Notre Dame a 97-95 lead, but Wilkinson answered with a layup to knot the score at 97-97.

Allocco had a chance to win it for the Irish but missed a shot at the buzzer.
