Career night for Trevon Brazile as No. 14 Arkansas routs Queens

Senior Trevon Brazile had career highs with 26 points and five 3-pointers, freshman Darius Acuff Jr. had a career-high 23 points with 10 assists and No. 14 Arkansas rolled to a 108-80 victory over Queens University on Tuesday in Fayetteville, Ark.

Billy Richmond III had 15 points, Nick Pringle had 14 points and seven rebounds and Karter Knox had 11 points for the Razorbacks (9-2), who won their fourth straight in the first meeting between the programs.

The Razorbacks made a season-high 14 3-pointers, 10 in the first half, and have made at least 10 threes in four of the last five games. Acuff tied a career high with four 3-pointers.

Nasir Mann scored 16 points, Maban Jabriel had 14 and Avantae Parker had 13 for the Royals (5-7), the preseason pick to win the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Brazile, the reigning Southeastern Conference player of the week, was 9 of 11 from the field and made his first eight attempts, including four from distance. He had 24 points and four 3-pointers in a 93-86 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday.

Acuff, who has scored in double figures in all 11 games, did not have a turnover in 31 minutes.

Arkansas had its third 100-point game of the season and is averaging 89.9 points per game.

The Razorbacks shot 56.3% from the field, 50% from distance and had 13 steals that led to 32 fast-break points. They entered the day averaging 21.8 fast-break points per game, second in Division I.

Queens shot 44.1% from the field, 6 of 25 from distance. The Royals were averaging 11.3 threes per game, tied for 15th in Division I.

The Royals scored nine of the first 14 points before Arkansas took over. Acuff made two 3-pointers and Brazile had his first three and a fast-break dunk in a 13-0 run for an 18-9 lead.

That was just the beginning. Brazile scored eight straight Arkansas points on a pair of threes and a fast-break layup to make it 29-18 about nine minutes into the game. The Razorbacks were 11 of 14 from the field and 7 of 8 from distance at that point.

Arkansas, which had 33 points in the first 10 minutes, used a 14-2 run that included Brazile’s fourth 3-pointer for a 21-point lead, 43-22. The Razorbacks led 60-36 at halftime.
