Iowa State forward Milan Momcilovic injured his left hand in practice this week and will be sidelined indefinitely, the school announced Wednesday.
The news emerged hours before the No. 2 Cyclones host No. 9 Kansas in a much-anticipated Big 12 showdown. Iowa State is ranked second nationally for the first time in school history.
Momcilovic has started 14 of Iowa State’s 15 games and is averaging 10.3 points and 3.5 rebounds. He leads the Cyclones with a 44.3 percentage from 3-point range and is second on the team with 31 treys.
Momcilovic is one of five double-digit scorers on Iowa State (14-1), which uses an eight-man rotation. Making up Momcilovic’s minutes will be tough for the Cyclones, who have won 11 consecutive games.
Last season, Momcilovic averaged 10.9 points and 3.1 rebounds. He set a school freshman record with 61 3-pointers.
