Reserve Curtis Jones scored 24 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field as No. 8 Iowa State cruised over TCU 82-52 in a Big 12 Conference matchup Saturday afternoon in Ames, Iowa.
Milan Momcilovic finished with 14 points in his return from a hand injury for Iowa State (18-5, 8-4), which snapped a three-game losing streak. Dishon Jackson also scored 14, while Joshua Jefferson notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Vasean Allette and Trazarien White scored nine points each to lead TCU (12-11, 5-7). Ernest Udeh Jr. added eight points for the Horned Frogs.
Iowa State shot 59.6 percent (31 of 52) overall and 47.4 percent (9 of 19) from 3-point range. TCU shot 35.8 percent (19 of 53) from the field and 14.3 percent (2 of 14) from beyond the arc.
The Cyclones finished with a 44-28 advantage in points in the paint.
TCU trailed 42-24 at the half.
Iowa State grabbed its first double-digit lead when Jones drained a 3-pointer to put the Cyclones on top 26-16 with 5:44 left before the break. They increased their lead to 18 when Jefferson made a jump shot with eight seconds remaining in the half.
TCU struggled to keep pace in the second half. The Horned Frogs fell behind 56-28 when Momcilovic hit a 3-pointer with 16:01 to go.
Allette made a jump shot on the next possession, which started a 9-0 run for TCU. Noah Reynolds made a layup to finish the run and pull TCU within 56-37 with 12:59 remaining.
A 19-4 run later in the second half increased Iowa State’s lead to 82-49 with 1:41 to play. A jump shot by J.T. Rock gave the Cyclones a 33-point advantage.
Jace Posey scored the final three points for TCU.
Momcilovic played for the first time since Jan. 11 against Texas Tech. The sophomore entered Saturday averaging 10.3 points per game and shooting 44.3 percent from beyond the arc.
