Oklahoma State stays unblemished with win over Grand Canyon

Parsa Fallah scored 25 points and Christian Coleman added 16 as Oklahoma State remained undefeated with an 84-78 win over Grand Canyon on Saturday as part of the Jerry Colangelo Classic in Phoenix, Ariz.

Anthony Roy and Jaylen Curry both had 14 points for the Cowboys (9-0).

The Lopes (5-4) were led by Efe Demirel with 22 points and Caleb Shaw with 19.

Makaih Williams scored five points in 16 seconds and Jaden Henley scored on a layup for Grand Canyon to cut the Oklahoma State lead to 80-78 with 37 seconds left.

Kanye Clary, however, hit a 3-pointer with 16 seconds left and then made a steal to put the game away for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys hit their first two 3-pointers of the game to start the second half as Roy and Lefteris Mantzoukas hit back-to-back treys.

Roy followed with a jumper for the Cowboys’ largest lead at 50-41 early in the second half.

The Lopes fought back and with an 8-0 run with 8:20 left to lead 65-62 with 8:20 left.

Shaw highlighted the run with a 3-pointer and a dunk.

Curry then went on a personal six-point run to put the Cowboys back on top.

Demirel tied it with a dunk, but Roy hit a 3-pointer with 4:43 to go to put the Cowboys up for good at 72-69.

The Cowboys outshot the Lopes 51.7% (15 of 29) to 41.2% (14 of 34) in the first half but led by only three, 42-39, at halftime.

Grand Canyon hit 5-of-16 3-points shots, while the Cowboys missed all of their 3-point shots, going 0-for-7.

Grand Canyon led by as many as six in the first half, but the Cowboys went on a 10-0 run to take the lead 23-19 with 8:38 left in the half.

Curry started the run with a jumper before Coleman and Fallah scored on layups for a 19-19 tie.

Fallah made a pair of free throws twice in less than a minute to give the Cowboys the four-point advantage.

Brian Moore finally stopped the Oklahoma State run with a 3-pointer with 7:51 left in the half.

The Cowboys then went on an 11-6 run to grab their largest lead of the half, 36-28, with 3:59 left.
