Utah sophomore forward Keanu Dawes has withdrawn from the transfer portal, On3.com reported on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-9 sophomore forward averaged 8.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 18.6 minutes per game while shooting 61.4 percent from the field in 31 games (two starts) in his first season with the Utes (16-17, 8-12 Big 12).
Dawes collected a team-high 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds as a starter in the Utes’ last game, an 86-84 loss to Butler on Monday in the College Basketball Crown. He made a big impact late in the season with four double-doubles in the team’s last six games.
He will be playing for Alex Jensen, who will take over as the Utes’ head coach after completing the NBA season as an assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks. Josh Eilert has served as interim head coach since Craig Smith’s firing in February.
Dawes was voted to the 2023-24 American Athletic Conference All-Freshman team in his lone season at Rice, where he averaged 6.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in 32 games (23 starts).
