Reigning Big 12 Freshman of the Year Tyrese Hunter said Friday that he will continue his career at Texas.
Hunter was an immediate hit for Iowa State last season but opted to enter the transfer portal after last season.
Hunter reportedly chose the Longhorns over Kansas, Gonzaga, Tennessee, Louisville and Purdue.
The 6-foot Hunter averaged 11.0 points, 4.9 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 35 games for Iowa State. He set school single-season freshman records of 172 assists and 71 steals and he helped the Cyclones reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
Hunter was considered one of the top players in the transfer market. He figures to have much better name, image and likeness opportunities in Austin as opposed to Ames, Iowa.
