Former Georgia guard Jabri Abdur-Rahim announced Monday he is committing to Providence.
Abdur-Rahim entered the transfer portal following three years at Georgia, where he landed after one season at Virginia.
Abdur-Rahim had a career year in 2023-24, averaging 12.2 points and 3.5 rebounds over 29 games (27 starts). He shot 35.6 percent from 3-point range, keeping close to his career average of 35.4 percent.
Providence now has three commitments from players in the transfer portal. The Friars previously added Miami guard Bensley Joseph and Saint Joseph’s center Christ Essandoko.
–Former Belmont forward Malik Dia is headed to Ole Miss via the transfer portal.
Dia began his college career in the SEC, playing for Vanderbilt in 2022-23 before transferring to Belmont.
Dia’s production exploded this past season. He averaged 16.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game in 33 contests (24 starts). He shot 48.8 percent overall and 34.1 percent from 3-point range.
In 53 college games between Vanderbilt and Belmont, Dia has put up 11.5 points and 4.2 boards per game.
–Butler picked up a commitment from Maryland transfer forward Jamie Kaiser.
Kaiser was a four-star prospect coming out of high school last year but had minimal impact as a freshman for the Terrapins. He averaged 4.4 points and 2.0 rebounds over 19.5 minutes per game in 33 games (five starts). Kaiser shot just 26.9 percent from the field.
–Kansas State added guard Christian “CJ” Jones, a transfer from Illinois-Chicago.
Jones averaged 9.0 points, 3.6 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game in 62 games (50 starts) over two years at UIC. He was the Flames’ second-leading scorer in 2023-24, putting up 11.4 points along with 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per contest in 33 contests (31 starts).
