Wade Taylor IV, Texas A&M outlast No. 6 Kentucky in OT

Wade Taylor IV scored 31 points, Tyrece Radford added 28 and Texas A&M held on for a 97-92 overtime win against No. 6 Kentucky in a Southeastern Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon in College Station, Texas.

Taylor added six rebounds, five assists and two steals for Texas A&M (10-6, 1-2 SEC). Radford finished with nine rebounds, which matched Solomon Washington for a team high.

Antonio Reeves scored 22 points and made a handful of 3-pointers for Kentucky (12-3, 2-1). D.J. Wagner finished with 18 points and Rob Dillingham scored 15 for the Wildcats, whose six-game winning streak ended.

Texas A&M outscored Kentucky 8-3 during overtime.

Radford and Taylor accounted for the first five points of the extra session to put Texas A&M on top 94-89. The Wildcats didn’t score in overtime until Reed Sheppard made a pair of free throws with 39 seconds remaining.

The Aggies recovered quickly after giving up the lead late in regulation.

Texas A&M led 85-81 with 1:51 left in the second half after Taylor drained a 3-pointer. The basket capped a stretch in which Taylor scored 13 consecutive points for the Aggies.

Dillingham hit a 3-pointer on the next possession to pull Kentucky within 85-84 with 1:34 left.

A layup by Radford increased Texas A&M’s advantage to 87-84 with 1:16 to go.

Dillingham delivered from deep yet again to even the score at 87 with 1:07 remaining.

Radford and Sheppard made two free throws apiece in the final seconds to prompt overtime.

Texas A&M held on to a 46-45 lead at the half.

Manny Obaseki provided a highlight-reel play for the Aggies during the first half. He drove to the rim, switched the ball from his right hand to his left and threw down a violent dunk over the outstretched arm of Wildcats 7-footer Ugonna Onyenso.

After trailing 38-27, Kentucky battled back to grab a 45-44 lead in the final minute of the half. Reeves drained a 3-pointer from the right corner with 17 seconds left.

Taylor made two free throws moments later to give the Aggies a one-point edge heading into the break.
