The Tigers outscored the Cougars in the second half 32-28, but it was already decided at that point with Houston leading 37-17 at halftime and never looking back.

Wake Forest (1-2) matched up with Utah in the late game on Thursday and lost 77-70.

Hunter Sallis stood out for the Demon Deacons, scoring 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting. Cameron Hildreth added 14 points and five rebounds.

It was a comeback win for the Utes, who trailed by as much as 12 early in the second half. They were led by Branden Carlson’s 31 points, including 20 in the second half.

The winner of this contest will play the North Texas-LSU victor in the fifth-place game on Sunday afternoon. The matchup between LSU and North Texas is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. ET on Friday.

Towson has competed in the Charleston Classic twice before in 2019 and 2015, in both cases losing its first two games before winning the seventh-place contest. Wake Forest is in it for just the second time, taking third place in 2016.
