Xavier leading scorer Zach Freemantle came away with a lower-body injury Saturday against Cincinnati and will be out indefinitely, the program announced Monday.
Freemantle came back for a final season of college basketball after missing the end of the 2022-23 season and all of the 2023-24 season due to foot surgeries.
Through 11 games (all starts) this season, the forward was averaging a career-high 16.9 points per game to go with 7.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals.
In 116 career games (89 starts), Freemantle has averaged 12.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game with a 51.2 field goal percentage.
Xavier (8-3) was ranked in the AP Top 25 poll earlier this season but has lost three of five games, including a 68-65 defeat at rival Cincinnati on Saturday. The Musketeers visit No. 11 UConn on Wednesday to open Big East play.
