Jeremiyah Love rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass, helping No. 6 Notre Dame crush No. 19 Army 49-14 on Saturday night at Yankee Stadium in New York.
Riley Leonard completed 10 of 13 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns for Notre Dame (10-1). Jadarian Price rushed for 53 yards and a pair of scores.
Army quarterback Bryson Daily had 39 carries for 139 yards and two touchdowns for Army (9-1). The Black Knights had their 13-game win streak snapped. Their most recent loss had been against Massachusetts on Oct. 28, 2023.
The Fighting Irish put this game out of reach with a pair of third-quarter scores.
Love broke loose up the middle and outraced a group of Army defenders for a 68-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage of the second half. The dash marked his second rushing touchdown of the game and his 14th of the season.
Price increased the Fighting Irish’s lead to 42-7 with a 10-yard rushing touchdown with 45 seconds left in the third quarter. He broke a tackle, evaded another defender and burst past the goal line for his second rushing score of the game and his sixth of the season.
Aneyas Williams made it 49-7 with a 58-yard touchdown run with 10:40 left in the fourth quarter. It was the second touchdown of the season for the freshman.
Daily finished the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run with 22 seconds to go.
Notre Dame built a 28-7 lead at the half.
Jordan Faison opened the scoring with a 28-yard touchdown on Notre Dame’s first drive. He caught a pass from Leonard, turned and tumbled into the end zone.
Love made it 14-0 with a 6-yard touchdown catch midway through the first quarter. He hurdled a defender to cross the goal line.
Army got on the scoreboard with 13:53 to go in the second quarter. Daily scored on a 4-yard run for his 22nd rushing touchdown of the season.
Notre Dame pulled ahead 21-7 on Love’s 14-yard rushing touchdown with 4:35 remaining in the second quarter.
Price added a 2-yard touchdown run with 26 seconds left before the half.
