Penn State’s top two RBs commit to return for 2025

Penn State got some encouraging news from some of its top offensive players Monday.

The Nittany Lions’ top two rushers from 2024, Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton, will return to Happy Valley for the 2025 season rather than declare for the NFL draft.

Their decisions came four days after Penn State’s season ended with a 27-24 loss to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Orange Bowl.

“Through discussions with (his support system), my coaches and teammates, it’s clear that we still have a lot more to accomplish as a team at Penn State,” Allen wrote in a social media post.

“We still have goals we want to reach as a team, and I want to be alongside my teammates as we reach those goals,” Singleton added in his own announcement.

The running backs will be joined by starting quarterback Drew Allar, making Penn State one of the clear-cut favorites in the Big Ten.

Allen rushed for 1,108 yards and eight touchdowns on 220 attempts over 16 games in 2024. He has gained at least 983 yards from scrimmage in each of his first three seasons at Penn State. Over 42 games, Allen has amassed 2,877 rushing yards (5.1 per carry), 422 more yards on 52 receptions and 28 total touchdowns.

Singleton ran for 1,099 yards and 12 touchdowns across 15 games this past season. In three years on campus (41 games), Singleton has racked up 2,912 rushing yards (5.8 per carry), 768 more yards on 78 receptions and 40 total touchdowns.
