Trinidad Chambliss passed for 314 yards and a touchdown and No. 13 Ole Miss’s defense held No. 4 LSU in check in a 24-19 victory Saturday in Oxford, Miss.

Chambliss, who rushed for 71 yards, overcame a costly third-quarter interception and the Rebels (5-0, 3-0 SEC) outgained the Tigers (4-1, 1-1), 480-254.

Garrett Nussmeier completed 21 of 34 for 197 yards with a touchdown and an interception for LSU. As a team, the Tigers rushed for only 57 yards on 22 carries.

Damian Ramos kicked a 39-yard field goal to pull the Tigers within 17-10 with 6:02 remaining in the third quarter.

The Rebels crossed midfield on the ensuing possession, but PJ Woodland intercepted Chambliss and returned 31 yards to the Ole Miss 47. Ramos kicked a 48-yard field goal to get the Tigers within 17-13 at the end of the third quarter.

Former LSU running back Logan Diggs completed a 75-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown run that increased Ole Miss’s lead to 24-13 with 11:08 left in the game.

Harlem Berry’s 6-yard touchdown run pulled LSU within 24-19 with 5:04 remaining, but the Rebels ran out the clock.

On LSU’s second possession of the game Nussmeier completed all four of his passes for 68 yards, the last seven coming a deflection that Nic Anderson snared for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

On the ensuing possession Chambliss drove Ole Miss 83 yards in 18 plays, and Lucas Carneiro kicked a 25-yard field goal to trim the lead to 7-3 at the end of the first quarter.

The Tigers drove into field-goal range, but on the second play of the second quarter Wydett Williams Jr. intercepted Nussmeier at the Rebels 12. Ole Miss also had a turnover in the period, when Cayden Lee fumbled at the LSU 4 and the Tigers recovered in the end zone.

Four LSU penalties for 49 yards contributed to a Rebels’ 70-yard drive that ended with Kewan Lacy’s 15-yard touchdown run that gave them a 10-7 lead.

Chambliss threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Lee with 13 seconds remaining, extending the lead to 17-7 at halftime.
