The sixth signature event of the 2025 PGA Tour season tees off with the first round of the Truist Championship on Thursday.
It’s a unique event in that the former Wells Fargo Championship is making a one-year stop just outside of Philadelphia to play at The Philadelphia Cricket Club, with regular venue Quail Hollow preparing for next week’s PGA Championship.
Our golf experts preview the Truist Championship and provide their favorite prop picks along with best bets to win this week.

PROP PICKS –Stephan Jaeger Top 30 Finish (+100 at BetRivers): After showing up on the first page of the leaderboard routinely through the first few months of the season, Jaeger has cooled off while going T56, T32 and T52 in his past three events. But remember that he only has to beat a little more than half the players in this limited field for this prop to pay.
–Corey Conners Top Canadian (+115 at DraftKings): Conners has been playing excellent golf most of the year, with a T49 at the RBC Heritage snapping a streak of five consecutive top-20s that included four finishes of T8 or better. He does face some solid competition in this prop in Taylor Pendrith (+230), Nick Taylor (+400) and Adam Hadwin (+650). However, Pendrith has missed two of his past three cuts, Taylor doesn’t have better than a T40 in his past four and Hadwin hasn’t finished better than T39 since February.
–Xander Schauffele to Beat Patrick Cantlay (-114 at BetRivers): Schauffele is rounding into form following his early-season injury and is motivated to peak in time for his PGA Championship defense next week. Cantlay is again stringing together paychecks — he hasn’t missed a cut in 11 months — but also isn’t winning anything as he struggles to put together four strong rounds.
2025 Prop Pick Record: 15-18-1
BEST BETS –Rory McIlroy (+400 at DraftKings) is a three-time winner already in 2025 and has won this event four times, although those victories came at Quail Hollow. His odds have shortened further since opening at +450, and McIlroy leads the field with 10 percent of the total bets wagered on this week’s winner. –Collin Morikawa (+1400) is still seeking his first win since 2023 but had a recent string of six consecutive top-17 finishes snapped with a T54 at the RBC Heritage. –Xander Schauffele (+1600) has three consecutive top-20 finishes and is fifth at the book, backed by 6 percent of both the total bets and money wagered. –Ludvig Aberg (+1600) has missed a pair of cuts in five starts since winning the Genesis, but also finished solo seventh at the Masters. –Justin Thomas (+1800) is making his first start since winning the RBC Heritage and has climbed to No. 5 in the world. –Patrick Cantlay (+2000) hasn’t won since the 2022 BMW Championship, but does lead all players with 11 percent of the total money wagered on this week’s winner. –Viktor Hovland (+2800) is regaining his form, following a win at the Valspar with a T21 at Augusta and a T13 at the RBC. –Andrew Novak (+6000) has yet to win on tour but is the only player this season with four top-three finishes.
NOTES –Signature events feature a $20 million purse and increased FedExCup points. There is also no 36-hole cut for the five non-player hosted tournaments. –World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is not in the field as he prepares for next week’s PGA Championship. –The Truist Championship is making a one-time stop at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, the oldest private club in the United States, founded in 1854. Wissahickon was designed by A.W. Tillinghast and opened for play in 1922. This is the first PGA Tour event to be held in the Philadelphia area since the 2018 BMW Championship. The event will return in 2026 to Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C., which is playing host to next week’s PGA Championship. –Garrick Higgo, Erik van Rooyen, Sam Stevens, Michael Thorbjornsen and Rasmus Hojgaard are in the field via the Aon Swing 5, while the sponsor exemptions are Rickie Fowler, Keith Mitchell, Jordan Spieth and Gary Woodland. –World No. 70 Alex Noren makes his 2025 debut after recovering from neck and hamstring injuries.
