Golden Knights, Flames

Keegan Kolesar scored two goals and Adin Hill stopped 16 shots for his first shutout of the season as the Vegas Golden Knights completed a sweep of a four-game homestand with a 5-0 victory over the Calgary Flames on Monday night in Las Vegas.

It was the first two-goal game and three-point game of Kolesar’s career. Nicolas Roy had a goal and two assists and Mark Stone and Alex Pietrangelo also scored goals for Vegas, which improved to an NHL-best 7-0-0 at home, outscoring their opponents 39-16 in the process. It was the eighth career shutout for Hill.

Dan Vladar made 33 saves for Calgary, which dropped its third straight game and lost for the fourth time in its last five games.

Vegas took a 1-0 lead at the 6:39 mark of the first period on Pietrangelo’s first goal of the season, a wrist shot from the top of the right circle past a Tanner Pearson screen and into the top left corner of the net.

The Golden Knights, who held the Flames without a shot on goal over a 17:53 span to start the second period, increased their lead to 2-0 on Stone’s fifth goal. Jack Eichel scooped up a turnover in the Flames zone and then left a drop pass for Stone who blasted a slap shot from the top of the right circle past Vladar’s blocker side for his league-leading 18th point of the season.

Kolesar extended the Vegas lead to 3-0 early in the third period, redirecting Cole Schwindt’s crossing pass into the crease into the top left corner of the net.

Vegas then broke the game open with two goals in the span of 15 seconds. Kolesar made it 4-0 with his fourth goal on a one-timer from the slot off a Roy feed. Roy followed with his third goal, beating Vladar with a wrist shot from the left circle into the top far corner.
