Artturi Lehkonen had two goals, Brock Nelson also scored before briefly leaving the game in the second period, and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Calgary Flames 5-2 on Saturday night in Denver.

Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas each collected one goal and one assist, Cale Makar had four assists and Devon Toews had two assists for Colorado.

Mackenzie Blackwood made 25 saves for the Avalanche.

Nelson was struck on the side of his helmet by a shot from Makar and was attended to on the ice before eventually skating to the bench. He returned at the start of the third period.

Joel Farabee and Marin Pospisil scored goals and Arsenii Sergeev turned away 29 shots for Calgary, which drew the only penalties in the game — a minor in the second period and a double minor late in the third.

Noah Juulsen replaced Josh Manson in Colorado’s defensive corps. Manson suffered an ankle injury in Wednesday’s win over New Jersey and will miss up to eight weeks.

Sergeev was recalled Friday when Devin Cooley was placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury suffered in a collision in a loss at Edmonton on Wednesday night. Dustin Wolf was in net for Calgary’s win over Seattle on Friday night.

MacKinnon gave the Avalanche a 1-0 lead when he beat Sergeev on the short side at 14:13 of the first period.

The Flames nearly tied in the final seconds of the period when Matt Coronato had the puck at the doorstep, but Blackwood stretched to make a glove save with 12 seconds left in the first.

Blackwood stoned Farabee 9 seconds into the middle period, and then his team extended the lead. Necas scored with 19 seconds left on the power play at 2:37, Lehkonen’s first goal of the night made it 3-0 at 5:48, and Nelson tapped a pass from Gabriel Landeskog out of the air and past Sergeev at 9:07.

Farabee made it 4-1 at 10:50 of the second, and Pospisil scored 1:59 into the third period. Lehkonen deflected Makar’s shot by Sergeev at 4:09 to restore the three-goal lead.
