Baylor and Southern California vaulted into the top 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 women’s college basketball poll released on Monday.
The Bears (2-0) rose nine places to No. 7 and the Trojans (2-0) jumped 10 spots to No. 8 after both teams earned wins against ranked opponents. Baylor opened the season with a 58-52 win against then-No. 7 Duke in Paris last Monday and USC edged then-No. 9 NC State 69-68 on Sunday in Charlotte.
The top six spots were unchanged, with No. 1 UConn (2-0) receiving 30 first-place votes and No. 2 South Carolina (2-0) getting the other two. They are followed by UCLA (2-0), Texas (2-0), LSU (3-0) and Oklahoma (1-0), with No. 9 Maryland (3-0) and the Wolfpack (1-1) rounding out the top 10.
The Bruins and Sooners meet Monday night in Sacramento.
The Blue Devils (1-1) dropped eight places to No. 15.
No. 25 Washington (1-0) moved into the poll and Richmond (1-1) dropped out after an 85-56 loss Friday at Texas.
