Travis Konecny scored two breakaway goals, including a short-handed tally that proved to be the game-winner, as the Philadelphia Flyers snapped a six-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday in Las Vegas.

It was the 30th multigoal game of Konecny’s career and the first of the season.

Philadelphia goalie Samuel Ersson made 24 saves to pick up his first win since Dec. 23 at Chicago, ending a personal 0-4-0 stretch. The Flyers entered the contest having been outscored 31-12 during their 0-5-1 run.

Tomas Hertl scored for Vegas, which had a season-best seven-game win streak and an eight-game point streak (7-0-1) snapped. Adin Hill finished with 15 saves for the Golden Knights.

Konecny put the Flyers in front 2-1 at 7:22 of the third period with his 11th career short-handed goal. He intercepted Jack Eichel’s no-look drop pass near the right boards, then broke in and ripped a wrist shot past Hill’s blocker side.

The Golden Knights had a 6-on-4 edge for the final 1:33 after Owen Tippett picked up a delay-of-game penalty and Hill was pulled for an extra attacker. However, Ersson made three saves and Pavel Dorofeyev rang a shot off the left post as the horn sounded to end the game.

Philadelphia, despite being outshot 11-4, ended the first period with a 1-0 lead thanks to a breakaway goal. Konecny intercepted a pass by Hertl for defenseman Kaedan Korczak along the blue line in the Vegas zone and then beat Hill with a wrist shot into the top right corner.

Vegas tied it at the 19:28 mark of the second period on a power-play goal by Hertl. Eichel got the primary assist, whipping a pass from the left circle into the low slot, where Hertl redirected the puck over Ersson’s left shoulder.

It was the 20th goal of the season for Hertl, marking the seventh time in his career he reached that mark.

Mark Stone had an assist on Hertl’s goal to extend his point streak to 12 games, tying Eichel’s team record set in 2023-24.
