TGL is tuning its arena golf product for Season 2, rolling out a larger GreenZone, tougher sand, expanded shot areas and team-branded holes — all aimed at quicker pace, more variety and bigger moments on broadcast.
The most dramatic overhaul is on the green. The putting surface grows by 38% to 5,270 square feet — roughly PGA Tour size — with contours softened and improved sightlines for fans.
Pin options jump from seven to 12. Around the target, one bunker is gone and the remaining two are 50 percent larger with layers of turf added, creating steep, distinctive walls that punish short-side misses.
Shot setup gets an upgrade, too. Hitting boxes into the massive screen are larger, and the sand trays used to simulate fairway bunkers can be lowered and now feature taller lips, raising the difficulty of escape shots and adding risk-reward to layup versus go decisions.
Identity will be more prominent. Six holes from last year are being reintroduced as official “Team Holes,” each skinned with localized backdrops and terrain cues tailored to the league’s six clubs. Under the hood, TGL and Full Swing refreshed the game engine for sharper visuals and more lifelike ball flight and surface interactions. No additional holes were added, but new holes are expected in later releases before play begins.
“After a successful inaugural season, we conducted a comprehensive review of data and learnings from all aspects of competition with players, teams and our broadcast partners to elevate the fan experience, enhance gameplay and create even more excitement for Season 2,” said Andrew Macaulay, Chief Technology Officer of TMRW Sports, which partnered with the PGA Tour to create the league. “These updates are part of our continued effort to increase drama, intrigue and dynamic moments while further challenging TGL’s teams within SoFi Center’s one-of-a-kind environment.”
Season 2 tees off Sunday, Dec. 28 at 3 p.m. ET at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., with a Finals rematch. Defending champion Atlanta Drive GC against New York Golf Club, marking TGL’s broadcast network debut on ABC.
