St. Louis Blues forward Alexey Toropchenko will miss at least six weeks because of an upper-body injury, the team announced on Sunday.
Toropchenko, 27, sustained an apparent right shoulder injury in the season opener, a 4-0 win at the Dallas Stars on Friday. He was behind the net when he was hit by Stars defenseman Lian Bichsel and then forward Tyler Seguin with 16:32 remaining in the second period.
He did not return to the game and finished with eight shifts for 5:08 of ice time.
Toropchenko sat out a 6-1 defeat to the host Colorado Avalanche on Saturday. The Blues said he will be re-evaluated in six weeks.
For his career, Toropchenko has 71 points (34 goals, 37 assists), a minus-18 rating, 110 penalty minutes, 231 blocks and 712 hits in 325 regular-season games since the 2021-22 season.
He also has two goals, four assists, a plus-9 rating, 12 penalty minutes, eight blocks and 50 hits in 19 playoff games.
St. Louis selected Toropchenko in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL Draft.
