minnesota wild

Brock Faber scored on a wraparound 35 seconds into overtime to lift the visiting Minnesota Wild to a 3-2 comeback victory over the Dallas Stars on Friday night.

Jonas Brodin and Marcus Foligno scored in the third period and Filip Gustavsson made 27 saves for the Wild, who had lost four of five entering the Christmas break.

Wyatt Johnston and Evgenii Dadonov each had a goal and an assist and Jake Oettinger made 15 saves for the Stars, who blew a 2-0 third-period lead but extended their point streak against Minnesota to 12 games (8-0-4).

Dadonov gave the Stars a 1-0 lead at 9:52 of the first period.

Jamie Benn made a stretch pass to Johnston in the neutral zone and he quickly moved the puck ahead to Dadonov, who scored with a wrist shot from just above the hash marks.

The Stars made it 2-0 at 15:08 of the second. Dadonov carried the puck into the Minnesota zone before dropping a pass for Johnston. He had room to skate into the high slot before scoring with a wrist shot.

The Wild cut it to 2-1 at 10:36 of the third period when Brodin finished off a 4-on-2 rush with a wrist shot from the left circle.

Minnesota scored 57 seconds later when Jared Spurgeon’s one-timer from just inside the blue line went off the leg of Foligno and into the net to tie it 2-2.

Minnesota played without right wing Kirill Kaprizov, who did not travel with the team because of a lower-body injury. Kaprizov entered Friday tied for fourth in the NHL with 50 points (23 goals, 27 assists).

Stars forward Mason Marchment was hit in the face with a deflected shot late in the first period while on a power play and did not return.

Marchment, who is second on the team with 27 points, was also struck in the face with a deflected puck on Nov. 9 against the Winnipeg Jets, but returned.

Oettinger came in 6-0-1 in his career against the Wild with a .917 save percentage and 2.30 goals-against average.

Dallas outshot the Wild 14-4 in the first period and owned a 22-9 advantage after two.
