The Cleveland Browns signed veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to their practice squad on Monday.
Coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson will remain the starter when the Browns (7-3) visit the Denver Broncos (5-5) in Week 12.
With Deshaun Watson sidelined by season-ending shoulder injury, Thompson-Robinson led Cleveland to a 13-10 win over AFC North rival Pittsburgh on Sunday.
“Dorian will start and Joe’s role is to support this team coming in here,” Stefanski said. “We’re able to add a guy with a ton of experience. He’ll be great for that room. He’ll be great for this team.”
Thompson-Robinson completed 24 of 43 passes for 165 yards with an interception against the Steelers. P.J. Walker was the backup for that game.
Flacco last appeared in five games (four starts) with the New York Jets last season. He threw for 1,051 yards with five touchdowns and three picks.
Flacco, 38, has 183 career games (180 starts) under his belt with the Baltimore Ravens (2008-18), Denver Broncos (2019) and Jets (2020-22). He has amassed 42,320 yards through the air with 232 touchdowns and 147 interceptions.
Flacco led Baltimore to a Super Bowl in 2013 and was named MVP as the Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31.
