Connor Zary scored a power-play goal at 1:53 of overtime to propel the Calgary Flames to a 2-1 win over the visiting Boston Bruins on Monday night.

After Boston’s Jonathan Aspirot was penalized for high-sticking as the regulation buzzer sounded, Zary was credited with the winning goal after a deflection off defender Hampus Lindholm in front of the net. The goal came with eight seconds left on the four-on-three advantage.

Blake Coleman scored the game-tying goal in the second period, and Dustin Wolf made 24 saves for the Flames, who have won four of their previous five games.

Less than a minute before Zary’s deciding goal, Wolf stopped Pavel Zacha’s short-handed breakaway and a Nikita Zadorov follow-up at the other end of the ice.

Andrew Peeke scored and Jeremy Swayman stopped 18 shots for Boston, which is on a six-game winless streak (0-4-2).

Boston led 25-21 in shots on goal and killed each of its first four penalties, including two in the third period.

Boston went the first 7:55 without a shot on goal but took a 1-0 lead into the intermission on Peeke’s second goal in a five-game span with 1:54 left in the first.

After receiving a pass from defense partner Mason Lohrei, Peeke drove right to the blue paint and tucked the game-opening tally five-hole on Wolf. Calgary’s challenge for goaltender interference was unsuccessful.

Swayman made one of his best saves 4:45 into the middle frame, denying a point-blank opportunity from Morgan Frost, who received a diagonal pass from Rasmus Andersson.

Coleman brought the Flames even at 1-1 at 13:32. With Joel Hanley’s keep-in at the blue line setting the stage, Mikael Backlund made a perfect drop pass to Coleman to shoot past Swayman’s blocker side from the high slot.

The Bruins started to push back immediately following the tying goal, with Steeves breaking free for a net-front opportunity that Wolf denied with an outstretched leg just eight seconds later.

Wolf came up with big stops during a Boston power play halfway through the third, as Fraser Minten tipped Lindholm’s point shot and Casey Mittelstadt made a follow-up. Meanwhile, Calgary managed just one shot in the third and zero on back-to-back man-up opportunities.
