Coyotes stage multiple rallies, clip Predators

Michael Carcone scored twice and Sean Durzi added the game-winning goal as the Arizona Coyotes edged the host Nashville Predators 7-5 on Saturday night.

Durzi made it 6-5 Arizona on a power play, one-timing Clayton Keller’s pass past Juuse Saros for his fifth goal of the season at 16:33 of the third. Nick Bjugstad added an empty-netter with 1:27 remaining.

Troy Stecher, Alex Kerfoot and Keller had the other goals for the Coyotes, who avoided a second straight loss. Connor Ingram made 37 saves.

Filip Forsberg had a pair of goals, while Kiefer Sherwood, Dante Fabbro and Ryan O’Reilly also scored for Nashville, which has lost three straight games.

Forsberg tipped Gustav Nyquist’s shot from the point past Ingram to tie the game 5-5, but the Predators could not force overtime.

Saros made 18 saves in the loss.

Arizona scored three times in the middle frame to erase a 4-2 deficit and take a 5-4 lead into the third.

After O’Reilly restored Nashville’s two-goal lead, Keller put home a Logan Cooley pas to get Arizona within one.

Kerfoot jammed in his own rebound to tie the game 4-4 at 12:28 of the second.

Arizona took its first lead of the game with 52.5 seconds remaining in the second when Carcone beat Saros far-side with a snap shot from the top of the circle for his second marker of the game.

The Predators scored three goals in the opening 20 minutes and held a 3-2 lead after one period.

Sherwood opened the scoring 5:13 into the opening period.

The Predators took a 2-0 lead at 7:11 when Forsberg re-directed in a Nyquist backhand shot.

Carcone got Arizona on the board near the midway point of the first, beating a screened Saros.

Stecher hopped out of the box after serving an interference penalty and beat Saros on a partial breakaway to tie it 2-2 at 14:05.

Fabbro one-timed a Roman Josi feed past Ingram to give Nashville a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes.

Saturday was the first of four meetings this season between the Central Division rivals. The two teams meet next on Jan. 20 in Arizona.
