The Kansas City Current acquired the exclusive rights to Brazilian defender Lauren from the North Carolina Courage on Monday.
In exchange, the Courage received $100,000 in allocation money and a 2024 international roster slot from the Current.
Lauren, 20, is currently competing with Brazil at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The trade allows Kansas City to negotiate terms for her services.
Lauren has played for Madrid CFF in the Spanish Liga F since 2022. Before that, she played for Sao Paulo in Brazil.
