The New Jersey Devils were awaiting test results Monday after star forward Jack Hughes left the ice Sunday night with an apparent arm or shoulder injury.
Hughes crashed hard into the boards behind the Vegas net after a collision with Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel late in the third period of the Nets’ 2-0 loss in Las Vegas.
Hughes, 23, skated off the ice with his right arm dangling by his side.
“Obviously, it didn’t look good,” Devils coach Sheldon Keefe said after the game. “We’re going to have to take the time to know the full extent of it. It’s tough to see.”
Hughes leads the Devils with 27 goals and 70 points and is second on the team with 43 assists through 62 games this season.
He has 351 career points (141 goals, 210 assists) in 368 games since New Jersey selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.
