Dougie Hamilton scored two power-play goals and added an assist as the New Jersey Devils extended their winning streak to seven games with a 3-1 victory against the San Jose Sharks on Friday in Newark, N.J.

Connor Brown also scored, Nico Hischier had two assists and Jake Allen made 16 saves for the Devils, who are riding their longest winning streak since a 13-game run from Oct. 25-Nov. 21, 2022, which tied a franchise record.

William Eklund scored and Yaroslav Askarov made 27 saves for the Sharks, who were trying to win two in a row following an 0-4-2 start.

The Sharks scored 1:58 into an eventual 6-5 overtime win against the New York Rangers on Thursday, and they were on the board 2:25 into the matchup against the Devils.

Hischier went to the penalty box for tripping Jeff Skinner, and Eklund scored when a bouncing puck came to him as he skated through the right circle.

The Devils had killed the previous 21 penalties.

San Jose briefly celebrated another goal on a deflection by Philipp Kurashev with 13:36 left in the first period, but it was quickly ruled the puck was played with a high stick, and video confirmed the call.

Askarov, 23, did his part to keep the game close, making a nifty save sliding across the crease to turn away Hischier on a power play just before the midway point of the opening period.

The second power play for the Devils carried over to the second period, and Hamilton tied it 1-1 when he put in a rebound at 40 seconds.

Skinner appeared to score off a rebound 1:57 into the middle period, but the Devils requested a review for offside, which was confirmed.

New Jersey was back on the power play when Hamilton scored with a one-timer from the right hashmarks off a feed from Jack Hughes to create a 2-1 lead at 9:09 of the second.

The Sharks killed a 5-on-3 that lasted just over a minute later in the second, but they were outshot 13-0 in the period.

The last time New Jersey did not allow a shot on goal in a period was Jan. 6, 2017, in the third against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Brown scored into an empty net with 46 seconds left.
