The Philadelphia Eagles ruled out defensive tackle Jalen Carter (shoulders) and offensive tackle Lane Johnson (foot) on Thursday for Saturday’s road game against the Washington Commanders after they did not practice all week.
The Commanders ruled out five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil because of a strained oblique.
Carter, 24, has 32 tackles, two sacks and 11 quarterback hits in 10 games (all starts) in his third season with Philadelphia, which selected him ninth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Johnson, 35, has not played since the 16-9 home win over the Detroit Lions on Nov. 16. He has started all 10 of the games he has played. The six-time Pro Bowl selection was first-team All-Pro in 2017 and 2022. The Eagles picked him fourth overall in the 2013 draft.
Philadelphia star running back Saquon Barkley (stinger) was a full participant for a second consecutive day on Thursday. He was categorized as a non-participant on Tuesday, which was an estimation because the Eagles only held a walkthrough.
Philadelphia listed in Thursday’s injury report that tight end Cameron Latu (stinger) and offensive tackle Cameron Williams (shoulder) were full participants but questionable for the game. The Eagles opened the practice window for Williams, who is on injured reserve, on Dec. 11.
Washington already has ruled out quarterback Jayden Daniels (left elbow) for the rest of the season. Daniels won’t go on IR and practiced in limited fashion all week.
Tunsil, who was limited on Wednesday, did not practice on Thursday and was ruled out, as were defensive tackle Eddie Goldman (concussion) and tight end Colson Yankoff (ankle).
“(Tunsil) tried to go at practice yesterday, and he’s just not there yet,” Commanders coach Dan Quinn said on Thursday. “We’ll hopefully get him back for the final game, but not for this one.”
Tunsil, 31, has started all 14 games in his first season with the Commanders after being acquired in an offseason trade with the Houston Texans. He has played on 90% of the offensive snaps. He twice left last Sunday’s home win over the New York Giants because of injuries.
Cornerback Jonathan Jones (rib), a full participant on Wednesday, did not practice on Thursday and is questionable for Saturday, as is defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton (illness).
