Eagles RB Miles Sanders: ‘Ready to go’

Philadelphia running back Miles Sanders on Thursday declared himself “ready to go” for the Eagles’ season opener against the Detroit Lions.

Sanders was a full participant in practice Wednesday after suffering a hamstring injury in the Eagles’ preseason opener Aug. 12 against the New York Jets. He was sidelined for more than two weeks before returning to practice last week.

“It’s just one of those injuries you don’t want to risk it in camp, so I attacked the rehab and I’m back, ready to go,” Sanders said Thursday.

Sanders, 25, gained 912 yards from scrimmage in 12 starts last season. He missed four games in 2020 and five games in 2021 due to various injuries.

He has rushed for 2,439 yards and nine touchdowns, and added 104 catches for 864 yards and three scores in 40 games in 34 starts since Philadelphia drafted him in the second round in 2019.

Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott are behind Sanders on the depth chart. Philadelphia added some insurance at running back by claiming Trey Sermon off waivers and signing running back La’Mical Perine to the practice squad.

Sanders is entering the final year of his rookie contract.

The Eagles travel to Detroit on Sunday.
