Pro Bowl safety Justin Simmons is signing a one-year, $8 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons, his agent told reporters on Thursday.
Simmons, who also visited the New Orleans Saints last week, is the second big addition in short order for Atlanta. The Falcons acquired disgruntled outside linebacker Matthew Judon from the New England Patriots in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Simmons, 30, recorded three interceptions, one sack and 70 tackles in 15 starts with the Denver Broncos last season.
A two-time Pro Bowl selection (2020, 2023), Simmons racked up 30 interceptions, 64 pass breakups and 604 tackles in 118 games (108 starts) since being selected by Denver in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
The addition of Simmons is a welcome one for the Falcons, who announced second-year safety Demarcco Hellams is going to miss “significant time” with an ankle injury sustained over the weekend.
