Trevor Zegras scored with 1:33 left in overtime to lift the Philadelphia Flyers to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Dallas Stars on Sunday.

Zegras’ fourth career OT goal — and his first as a member of the Flyers — was his 23rd tally of the season, tying his career high. The crafty winger skated slowly down the right side on the decisive rush before ripping a wrister past Casey DeSmith.

Samuel Ersson made 17 saves and also assisted on the winning goal for Philadelphia (37-24-12, 86 points), which improved to 8-1-1 in its last 10 games. The Flyers continued to gain ground in both the Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference wild-card standings, although they are still on the outside of the playoff picture with nine games remaining.

Dallas (44-18-12, 100 points) has already clinched a postseason berth but has won just once in its last six games. DeSmith finished with 28 stops for the Stars, while Arttu Hyry scored his first NHL goal.

After a scoreless first period, Travis Konecny opened the scoring for the Flyers on the power play midway through the second. The winger took a pass from Matvei Michkov on the doorstep, skated to the front of the net and slipped the puck past DeSmith for his 26th goal of the season.

Zegras hit the post shortly thereafter, keeping the score at 1-0.

Philadelphia was back on the power play late in the session when Hyry tied it with a short-handed tally. The Flyers turned it over in the neutral zone and defenseman Jamie Drysdale wiped out, giving Hyry a chance to snipe one in the top-right corner.

With 2:48 left in the third period, Zegras was whistled for tripping. The Stars appeared primed to take the lead on the ensuing man advantage, but Ersson slid across to stop Wyatt Johnston, who has a team-record 24 power-play goals this season.

Porter Martone, the Flyers’ first-round pick in 2025, was in attendance but did not dress. The Michigan State product signed an entry-level contract with Philadelphia earlier Sunday and is expected to debut for the Flyers in the near future.
