New York Giants receiver Malik Nabers’ progress in his recovery from a 2025 season-ending knee injury was measured Thursday in his absence from the team’s physically unable to perform list.

The Giants did not include Nabers in announcing that tight end Thomas Fidone II (foot) and defensive linemen Roy Robertson-Harris (Achilles) and Sam Roberts (not disclosed) were placed on the PUP list before the start of training camp next week in West Virginia. Robertson-Harris sustained a torn Achilles in the spring.

After a Pro Bowl campaign as a 2024 rookie, Nabers sustained a torn right anterior cruciate ligament in Week 4 last fall that ended his season.

New York new head coach John Harbaugh has said in recent weeks that the team is optimistic about Nabers’ recovery to full strength.

Nabers, who turns 23 on July 28, was limited to 18 receptions for 271 yards and two TDs last season after a stellar debut campaign in 2024. He had 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven scores.

The Giants selected Nabers with the sixth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU.

Players can be placed on the active/PUP list only before the start of training camp. The Giants’ rookies and quarterbacks reported on Thursday, with veterans expected to report on Tuesday when the team travels to West Virginia.

Players on the active/PUP list count against the 90-man roster limit and can attend team meetings and use team facilities in the preseason. They can come off the list at any time in camp and practice immediately. Otherwise, they cannot participate in any portion of practice while on the list.

A player on the reserve/PUP list doesn’t count against the active roster but must sit out at least the first four games.
