Gotham FC captain and USWNT defender Tierna Davidson will miss the rest of the season with a torn left ACL.
Davidson, 26, was injured during last Friday’s 0-0 draw with the host Houston Dash, Gotham FC announced Wednesday.
“We are heartbroken for Tierna,” Gotham FC general manager Yael Averbuch West said. “Our club will do everything we can to support her through this recovery and rehabilitation process. We know she will come back stronger than ever.”
Davidson joined Gotham FC ahead of the 2024 season and had appeared in 22 matches, starting each of the first three contests this season. She played for the Chicago Red Stars from 2019-23.
Davidson won an NCAA national championship with Stanford in 2017, a FIFA Women’s World Cup with the U.S. in 2019 and a Summer Olympics gold medal in 2024. She has earned 65 caps with the national team.
