Free-agent forward Midge Purce will return to Gotham FC on a one-year deal through 2026 after winning her second NWSL championship with the club this past season.
Purce, 30, helped Gotham FC to both the NWSL title and the women’s CONCACAF Champions Cup this past year. She was also MVP in the 2023 NWSL final when she had two assists.
In between the two league titles, Purce dealt with an ACL injury that cost her most of the 2024 season.
“Midge has been a driving force for our team both on and off the field,” Gotham FC general manager and head of soccer operations Yael Averbuch West said in a news release. “Her commitment to our club and ability on the field make her an invaluable part of what we’re building, and we’re thrilled to have her continue with us.”
Purce, who is from the Washington, D.C., area, has scored 17 goals in 66 regular-season matches for Gotham FC since 2020. She also has four goals in 30 games for the United States Women’s National Team since 2019.
In nine NWSL seasons, the Harvard product has scored 26 regular-season goals in 129 games for the Boston Breakers (2017), Portland Thorns (2018-19) and Gotham FC.
