Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov will get the start on Tuesday in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference first-round series against the New Jersey Devils in Raleigh, N.C.
Kochetkov finished with 14 saves in relief of Frederik Andersen, who sustained an undisclosed injury in the second period of Carolina’s 5-2 win in Game 4. Andersen was hurt following a collision with Devils forward Timo Meier.
“He’s day-to-day and he’s out tonight,” Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said of Andersen, who has won three of the four games in this series while recording a 1.59 goals-against average and .936 save percentage
Carolina can advance to the second round for a fifth consecutive season and the sixth time in the past seven years.
Kochetkov, 25, posted 27-16-3 with two shutouts and a 2.60 GAA and .898 save percentage in 47 games during the regular season.
