Jaguars notch 1st win as Cam Little’s kick beats Colts

Colts, Jaguars

Cam Little booted a 49-yard field goal with 17 seconds left and the Jacksonville Jaguars picked up their first victory by dispatching the visiting Indianapolis Colts 37-34 on a rainy Sunday.

Trevor Lawrence passed for a career-high 371 yards to go with two touchdowns on his 25th birthday for Jacksonville (1-4). Lawrence had dropped his last nine starts before completing 28 of 34 passes with one interception against the Colts.

Tank Bigsby rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries for the Jaguars, who are the last NFL team to win a game. Brian Thomas Jr. had five receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown and Brenton Strange also had a scoring catch.

Joe Flacco completed 33 of 44 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns for Indianapolis (2-3). Alec Pierce had three receptions for 134 yards and one touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Colts battled back from a 14-point deficit.

Trey Sermon rushed for a touchdown while Mo Alie-Cox and Michael Pittman Jr. had scoring receptions for Indianapolis.

The Colts lost their 10th straight visit to Jacksonville. Andrew Luck was their quarterback when they last won there in 2014.

Indianapolis played without quarterback Anthony Richardson, running back Jonathan Taylor and center Ryan Kelly. In the third quarter, right guard Will Fries was carted off the field with a serious right lower leg injury.

The Colts trailed by 14 points with 5:09 left to play before Flacco drove them to two scores on a total of five plays.

Flacco started the first drive with completions of 24 and 45 to Pierce and Sermon followed with a 1-yard run to pull the Colts within seven with 4:27 left.

When Indianapolis next got the ball, Sermon broke loose with a 17-yard run and Flacco followed with a 65-yard touchdown pass to Pierce to tie it at 34 with 2:40 remaining.

Jacksonville held a 20-10 lead when Bigsby ran 18 yards and recovered his own fumble in the end zone with 7:13 left in the third quarter.

The Colts moved within three when Flacco tossed an 18-yard scoring pass to Alie-Cox on the first play of the fourth quarter. The Jaguars pushed the lead back to 10 on Lawrence’s 4-yard touchdown throw to Strange.

Matt Gay kicked a 37-yard field goal to bring Indianapolis within 27-20 with six minutes left. But Bigsby broke loose on a 65-yard dash to make it a two-touchdown game with 5:09 remaining.

Lawrence passed for 225 yards in the first half as Jacksonville led 13-10 at halftime.
