Jared McCann, Kraken edge Golden Knights in OT

Kraken, Golden Knights

Jared McCann scored the overtime winner as the Seattle Kraken edged the visiting Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 on Friday night.

McCann beat Adin Hill on a breakaway 29 seconds into the extra period for his team-leading seventh goal as the Kraken snapped a four-game losing streak.

Brandon Tanev scored twice and Oliver Bjorkstrand had the other goal for the Kraken, who won for the first time since Oct. 29 at Montreal.

Joey Daccord made 21 saves for the victory.

Nicolas Roy logged a goal and an assist and Pavel Dorofeyev and Alex Pietrangelo scored for the Golden Knights, while Jack Eichel finished with three assists. Hill stopped 28 shots.

Vegas led 2-0 in the first period but trailed 3-2 in the third. The Golden Knights tied it with 1:22 remaining in regulation as Pietrangelo’s point shot deflected off the skate of Kraken defenseman Adam Larsson and past Daccord for his second goal of the season.

Bjorkstrand gave Seattle a 3-2 lead at 2:57 of the third period. Hill’s pokecheck attempt deflected off the Kraken forward and in for his fourth of the season.

Tanev tied it 2-2 at 7:12 of the second period, one-timing a Tye Kartye feed past Hill for his second goal of the night and third of the season.

The Kraken outshot the Golden Knights 11-10 in the opening period, but Vegas had a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

The Golden Knights got a two-minute, five-on-three power play at 9:08 of the first period, and Dorofeyev capitalized by one-timing a Roy cross-ice feed past Daccord at 10:13 for his team-leading eighth goal of the season. Dorofeyev has five goals in his past six games.

Roy doubled Vegas’ lead, putting a wrist shot past an outstretched Daccord for his fourth of the season at 13:31 of the first.

Tanev got Seattle on the board at 17:21 of the first. He intercepted a Brayden McNabb pass at the Kraken blueline and beat Hill blocker side on a partial break.

Golden Knights captain Mark Stone (lower-body injury) missed a game for the first time this season. He was replaced in the lineup by Jonas Rondbjerg, who got just 5:16 of ice time.

Before puck drop on Friday, the Seattle Kraken announced they had acquired forward Daniel Sprong from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for future considerations.
