Matt Boldy had a goal and an assist, Jesper Wallstedt stopped all 36 shots he faced, and the Minnesota Wild posted a 2-0 win over the Calgary Flames on Sunday night in St. Paul, Minn.

Wallstedt stopped 11 shots in the first period, 12 in the second period and 13 in the third period for Minnesota, which won its second game in a row. Kirill Kaprizov also scored a goal.

MacKenzie Weegar had six shots on goal to lead Calgary, which was shut out for the second consecutive game. The Flames have been outscored 6-0 in their past two contests.

Wallstedt celebrated his first shutout of the season and the second of his career. He eclipsed his previous career high in saves by five as he stopped 31 Los Angeles Kings’ attempts on Oct. 13, 2025. The highly touted 22-year-old made his fifth start of the 2025-26 campaign.

Flames goaltender Devin Cooley took the hard-luck loss despite stopping 17 of 18 shots.

The game remained scoreless until midway through the second period.

Boldy gave the Wild a 1-0 lead on an even-strength goal with 6:13 to go in the period. He skated behind the Flames defense, received a pass from Marcus Johansson and punched a shot between Cooley’s leg pads for his eighth goal of the season.

The Flames pulled their goaltender for an extra skater in the final minutes, and the Wild capitalized with an empty-net goal to make it 2-0. Kaprizov scored with 50 seconds remaining, with Joel Eriksson Ek and Boldy each picking up an assist on the play.

Wallstedt held firm on several quality scoring chances by the Flames. In the second period, forward Matt Coronato had a clear path to the net and fired a rising wrist shot from the right circle. Wallstedt reacted just in time to make the glove save and hold the puck for a whistle.

Wild defenseman Brock Faber left the game in the second period after an awkward collision with Flames forward Nazem Kadri. Faber headed to the locker room but appeared to avoid any serious injury as he returned to the ice several minutes later.
