New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has added another ailment to his growing list of injuries.
Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said Wednesday that Rodgers is dealing with a hamstring injury sustained during the team’s 37-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. Per Ulbrich, Rodgers will be listed as a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice due to knee, ankle and hamstring injuries.
“It is new,” Ulbrich said of the hamstring injury. “Something that kinda flared up this past game. They’re gonna assess it all week long, he’s gonna treat his butt off like he always does and don’t anticipate this affecting him in playing.”
Rodgers, 40, completed 24 of 39 passes for 276 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions against the Steelers. The four-time NFL MVP is completing 61.7 percent of his passes for 1,663 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven picks.
Also on Wednesday, the Jets signed veteran safety Jalen Mills off the practice squad and placed offensive lineman Xavier Newman-Johnson on injured reserve.
Mills, 30, totaled nine tackles in two appearances after being previously elevated from the practice squad.
Newman-Johnson was taken off the field via a stretcher in the third quarter on Sunday and sent to a hospital with a neck injury. He was released from the hospital hours later.
Newman-Johnson, 25, was playing in his seventh game of the season and 18th of his three-year career.
