Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness took a leave of absence from the team after his wife suffered a seizure Sunday night, the team said in a statement Monday.
Associate coach Scott Arniel will serve as interim head coach until Bowness returns, the team said.
The team said Judy Bowness is in the hospital undergoing further testing. No additional details were provided.
The Jets are off to a 2-3-0 start and next host St. Louis on Tuesday.
Bowness, 68, is in his second season coaching Winnipeg and led the team to a 46-33-3 mark last season. He’s in his 14th season as an NHL head coach.
