Jets rule out Billy Turner, won’t activate Duane Brown vs. Raiders

The New York Jets will not have offensive lineman Billy Turner for Sunday night’s game against the host Las Vegas Raiders.

Jets coach Robert Saleh announced the decision to rule out both Turner (finger) and linebacker Chazz Surratt (ankle) as well as the team electing against activating tackle Duane Brown (shoulder, hip) from injured reserve. The Jets opened Brown’s 21-day practice window on Thursday.

The Jets’ beleaguered offensive line allowed eight sacks in a 27-6 setback to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday. Turner was thrust into a starting role for the first time this season in that game.

Turner, 32, has played in eight games this season and 99 in his career with the Miami Dolphins (2014-16), Denver Broncos (2016-18, 2022), Green Bay Packers (2019-21) and Jets.

Brown, 38, started the first two games of the season before being placed on IR.

He is a five-time Pro Bowl selection with 217 career starts across 16 seasons with the Houston Texans (2008-17), Seattle Seahawks (2017-21) and Jets.

Brown was selected by the Texans with the 26th overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech. He signed a two-year, $20 million deal with the Jets in August 2022.
