The NHL fined Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi $5,000 on Monday for boarding Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov.
The incident occurred in the final moments of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference second-round series on Sunday night in Sunrise, Fla. The Panthers won 2-0 to even the best-of-seven series at 2-2.
Domi hit Barkov from behind, setting off a scrum involving several players. Domi received a five-minute boarding penalty. The fine was the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement.
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday night in Toronto.
Domi, 30, has recorded one goal, one assist and 11 penalty minutes in this series. He had 33 points (eight goals, 25 assists) and 76 penalty minutes in 74 games during the regular season.
