Magomed Ankalaev knocked out Johnny Walker on Saturday night in their main event light heavyweight bout at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas.
Ankalaev (19-1-1) ended the fight at the 2:42 mark of second round after knocking Walker to the mat with a right jab to his right cheek. Once Walker was down and sitting up against the cage, Ankalaev connected with his face once again, prompting the referee to call the match.
Walker hadn’t lost a UFC fight since Feb. 19, 2022. He dropped 21-8-0.
With the victory, Ankalaev improved to 10-0-1 since September of 2018. He last lost in March of 2018.
Saturday’s fight was a rematch of an October 2023 bout which was ruled a no contest due to an illegal knee.
In other action Saturday, Jim Miller (37-17-0) beat Gabriel Benitez (23-12-0) by submission in a lightweight fight. Mario Bautista (14-2-0) downed Ricky Simon (20-5-0) by unanimous decision in bantamweight action, with the cards reading 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.
Brunno Ferreira (11-1-0) won his middleweight battle, and Waldo Cortes-Acosta (11-1-0) prevailed in a heavyweight clash.
