Miro Heiskanen helps Stars double up Red Wings

Miro Heiskanen had two goals and an assist for the Dallas Stars in a 6-3 win against the visiting Detroit Red Wings on Monday night.

Jason Robertson and Esa Lindell each had a goal and an assist, Roope Hintz and Sam Steel had two assists each and Jake Oettinger made 27 saves for the Stars, who had lost three of four.

Daniel Sprong, Jonatan Berggren and Joe Veleno scored, Shayne Gostisbehere had two assists and James Reimer made 29 saves for the Red Wings, who were without four forwards because of injuries and a suspension.

The Red Wings took a 1-0 lead when Sprong scored off a backhand feed from Robby Fabbri at 5:20 of the first period.

Heiskanen scored with a wrist shot from the high slot while on a power play to tie it 1-1 at 13:35. Jamie Benn earned his 500th NHL assist on the play.

Dallas scored with 0.2 on the clock to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission, this time it was Lindell beating Reimer with a wrist shot from the high slot.

The Stars stretched the lead to 3-1 at 11:16 of the second period.

Lindell passed the puck from the left point to Robertson at the bottom of the right circle and he scored from there.

Matt Duchene ended an 11-game goal drought when he scored off a deflection to stretch the lead to 4-1 at 13:30 of the second.

The Red Wings got the goal back 22 seconds later when Berggren was in the right spot for a rebound and he scored to make it 4-2 at 13:52 of the second.

Veleno cut it to 4-3 with a power play goal at 13:21, but the Stars went on a power play 24 seconds later and Joe Pavelski scored five seconds into the man advantage to make it 5-3.

Heiskanen’s empty-net goal with 42 seconds left made it 6-3.

The Red Wings played without co-points leader Dylan Larkin, who sustained an upper-body injury in a 5-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.

David Perron was suspended for six games for a cross-checking penalty after Larkin’s injury and fellow forwards J.T. Compher and Klim Kostin were also out with injuries.

Berggren, Zach Aston-Reese, and Austin Czarnik were recalled from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League.
