NHL roundup: Oilers top Jackets, win 14th straight

Evander Kane and Warren Foegele each scored a goal and added an assist as the Edmonton Oilers extended their franchise-record winning streak to 14 games with a 4-1 victory over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

The score was tied 1-1 before Kane and Connor McDavid scored goals 55 seconds apart early in the third period. Dylan Holloway sealed Edmonton’s latest triumph when he scored with 4:24 left in regulation.

Stuart Skinner made 27 saves to earn his 11th straight victory, passing Grant Fuhr for the longest goalie winning streak in franchise history. Skinner is 18-2-0 in his past 20 starts. Edmonton improved to 22-3-0 since starting the season 5-12-1. The Oilers have allowed two goals or fewer in 12 consecutive games.

Dmitri Voronkov had the lone Blue Jackets goal, and Elvis Merzlikins stopped 20 shots. Columbus is 3-6-4 over its past 13 games and has just one win in its past six outings (1-4-1).

Golden Knights 3, Islanders 2

Sheldon Rempal scored his first NHL goal to snap a second-period tie and Nicolas Roy followed with what proved to be the game-winner two minutes later as Vegas beat New York in Elmont, N.Y.

Ivan Barbashev scored in the first period for the Golden Knights, who have won four of five (4-0-1). Adin Hill, who had missed the previous 15 games with a lower body injury, made 41 saves.

Brock Nelson and Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored for the Islanders, who fell to 1-1 under coach Patrick Roy and 6-9-4 since Dec. 15. Ilya Sorokin recorded 24 saves in the loss.

Senators 4, Canadiens 1

Ridly Greig and Jake Sanderson scored 41 seconds apart in the first period and visiting Ottawa continued its recent dominance over Montreal.

Ottawa’s Shane Pinto scored in his second contest of the season following a 41-game suspension for violating the NHL’s gambling rules. Mathieu Joseph added an empty-netter for the Senators, who have outscored the Canadiens 40-18 during an eight-game series winning streak.

Joonas Korpisalo made 24 saves for the Senators, who are 3-0-1 in their past four games, a stretch that began with a 6-2 home win over Montreal on Thursday.

Wild 5, Capitals 3

Marcus Johansson scored twice against his former team as Minnesota held on to beat Washington in Saint Paul, Minn.

Johansson, who spent parts of nine seasons with the Capitals over two stints, notched his second two-goal game of the season.

Anthony Mantha scored twice for the Capitals, who have lost two straight to start a four-game road trip. Darcy Kuemper made 25 saves.

Lightning 6, Flyers 3

Nikita Kucherov had three goals and one assist, Brayden Point contributed a goal and an assist and Tampa Bay defeated host Philadelphia.

Michael Eyssimont and Brandon Hagel each scored a goal for the Lightning, who have won six of their past seven games. Anthony Cirelli chipped in with two assists, and goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves.

Cam Atkinson had a goal and an assist for the Flyers, who have dropped three in a row, all at home. Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson stopped 15 shots. Earlier on Tuesday, Philadelphia announced that goalie Carter Hart was granted an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons.

Blues 4, Flames 3

Brandon Saad scored his second goal of the game in the final minute to give visiting St. Louis a comeback victory over slumping Calgary.

Brayden Schenn and Jordan Kyrou also scored for the Blues, who won for only the second time this season when trailing through two periods. Goaltender Jordan Binnington made 32 saves. Nick Leddy collected three assists and Colton Parayko added two helpers.

Yegor Sharangovich collected one goal and one assist, while MacKenzie Weegar and Noah Hanifin each scored for the Flames, who have lost three straight games. Goalie Jacob Markstrom, who returned to the lineup after missing three games due to injury, stopped 22 shots.

Ducks 4, Sabres 2

Jakob Silfverberg scored twice to help Anaheim snap a three-game losing streak with a win over visiting Buffalo.

Cam Fowler had two assists, Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick each had a goal and John Gibson made 28 saves for the Ducks.

Jordan Greenway had a goal and an assist, Kyle Okposo scored and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 32 shots for the Sabres, who have lost two in a row.

Stars 5, Red Wings 4

Roope Hintz had two goals and an assist and visiting Dallas scored four unanswered goals in the second period, then held off Detroit.

Jamie Benn, Mason Marchment and Esa Lindell also scored for Dallas, while Wyatt Johnston added three assists. Jake Oettinger made 30 saves.

Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat each had a goal and an assist for the Wings. David Perron and J.T. Compher also scored.
Sharks 3, Rangers 2 (OT)

Tomas Hertl scored at 1:29 of overtime as San Jose rallied from a two-goal, third-period deficit to defeat visiting New York.

A wide-open Hertl took a crossing pass from Jan Rutta at the bottom of the right circle and then fired a wrist shot over a diving Igor Shesterkin for the game-winner. It was Hertl’s 15th goal of the season.

Adam Fox had a goal and an assist and Artemi Panarin also scored for New York, which finished 1-2-1 on its western road trip while losing for the seventh time in the past 10 games (3-5-2).
