Bia Zaneratto and Temwa Chawinga scored goals as the Kansas City Current reached the 20-win mark with Saturday’s 2-0 home victory against Gotham FC.

Lorena made two saves for the clean sheet. Chawinga has a goal in four consecutive matches, while Zaneratto assisted on Chawinga’s latest goal.

The Current (20-2-2, 62 points) have a four-match winning streak and haven’t lost since May 2. Kansas City also topped Gotham FC in early June.

Gotham FC (9-7-8, 35 points) hasn’t scored in three straight matches (0-1-2). Shelby Hogan made three saves.

Zaneratto scored on a header in the 34th minute off Izzy Rodriguez’s assist, posting her second goal in three matches and seventh of the season.

Chawinga’s goal came in the 51st minute, giving her 14 goals for the season and her second scoring streak of at least four matches this year.

Washington Spirit 1, North Carolina Courage 1

Shinomi Koyama scored in the 86th minute as North Carolina salvaged a tie, while Washington extended its unbeaten streak to 13 matches with the result at Cary, N.C.

Trinity Rodman scored her fifth goal of the season in the 52nd minute for Washington off Hal Hershfelt’s assist. Koyoma’s tying shot came from just inside the top of the box.

There were only two shots on goal in the first half, both from the Spirit (12-4-8, 44 points).

The Courage (7-9-8, 29 points) snapped a two-game skid, though they’ve scored at least one goal in six consecutive matches. The Spirit beat the Courage 3-1 in early June.

San Diego Wave 3, Utah Royals 2

Kenza Dali scored in the 72nd minute to break a tie and lift the Wave to a victory at Sandy, Utah.

Dudinha had the first San Diego goal and the other tally came on an own goal in first-half extra time. The Wave (9-8-7, 34 points) halted a seven-match winless streak.

Janni Thomsen, who began the scoring in the ninth minute, and Mina Tanaka scored for Utah (5-12-7, 22 points), which had an eight-match unbeaten string snapped. The Royals were 4-0-4 since losing Aug. 8 to first-place Kansas City.

The start of the match was delayed for nearly an hour because of weather concerns.
