The Green Bay Packers on Monday officially named former Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon as their defensive coordinator.
Gannon replaces Jeff Hafley, who was hired as head coach of the Miami Dolphins last week.
“We are thrilled to add Jonathan Gannon to our coaching staff,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said in a release. “He possesses tremendous experience as an NFL coordinator and head coach. I am confident that he will be an outstanding addition to our organization, as well as a strong leader of our defense.”
Gannon, 42, interviewed for several defensive coordinator positions throughout the league after he was fired by the Cardinals on Jan. 5.
The Cardinals finished 3-14 this past season and went 15-36 over three seasons with Gannon as head coach.
Prior to becoming Arizona’s head coach, Gannon spent two seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles.
