The Florida Panthers acquired forward Nico Sturm and a seventh-round pick of the 2027 NHL Draft from the San Jose Sharks on Thursday in exchange for a fourth-round selection of the 2026 draft.
The teams completed a trade for the second time in as many days. Florida added goaltender Vitek Vanecek from San Jose on Wednesday in exchange for forward Patrick Giles.
The Panthers are acquiring Sturm in the wake of placing star forward Matthew Tkachuk on long-term injured reserve on Sunday because of a groin injury.
Sturm, 29, has 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 47 games with the Sharks this season.
A Stanley Cup champion with Colorado, Sturm has 91 points (46 goals, 45 assists) in 316 career regular-season games with the Minnesota Wild (2018-22), Avalanche (2022) and Sharks (2023-25).
